We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join the team based in the Manchester office of one of the largest construction companies in the world and also one of the biggest Building Services employers in the Manchester area providing high quality, economic, innovative and fully planned design solutions for fast-track multi-disciplinary projects across the UK in specialist, critical manufacturing sectors such as biotechnology, pharmaceutical and healthcare.
The role:
 Manchester based with travel across UK as required
 To join the Mechanical Technical Team responsible for designing high quality,
economic and fully planned mechanical HVAC and public health design solutions
for a range of multi-discipline projects
 Provide high quality equipment and plant specifications
 Involvement across the project life cycle from front end bid design through to liaison
with the on-site project teams to delivering the project and identifying design
improvements and efficiencies.
 Projects can range from smaller HVAC refurbishment projects to larger multi-
disciplinary turnkey projects of a value of up to £20m
 Projects include HVAC and building services projects, cleanroom & laboratory
facilities, data centres, process engineering and energy centres.
The person:
 Degree qualified or equivalent in a building services related field
 A proven track record as a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer operating within a
building services consultancy, contracting or construction environment
 Able to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities in providing design
 Able to schedule and co-ordinate work to tight deadlines and within financial
 Highly computer literate and analytical with excellent use of Microsoft Excel and
industry standard software packages such as Hevacomp, Cymap, Revit, IES,
TAS, etc.
 Understanding of energy efficiency and sustainability in building services design
 Strong interpersonal and communication skills
 Current driving licence
